COVID-19 updates

May 22, 2020 - being updated as things evolve

After a delay at Canada Post due to a bottle neck at sorting plants caused by unprecedented parcel volume, my missing ingredient for making TCfeline has arrived and I have lots of TCfeline premix back in stock, ready to ship. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

May 11, 2020

Canada Post is experiencing delays due to significantly increased parcel volume, implementation of physical distancing at sorting and distribution plants, and a closure of a few days of its main sorting facility in Missisauga Ontario for cleaning. This lead to a wait for receipt of a key ingredients used in TCfeline, and some of my varieties will be out of stock in the online store for just a few days because of that. TCfeline Special Formula is still in stock. Please check back by the end of the week if you need to place an order for one of the two other varieties. There is no supply shortage; just a delay in receipt of supply due to Canada Post operating with a backlog. Contact me at [email protected] if you need a simple homemade recipe to bridge a period without premix.

I have lots of TCfeline premix ready to ship and Canada Post is committed to remaining operational. I moved to using Canada Post online shipping tools to ship orders, and you will now receive a tracking number and shipping status for your order directly from Canada Post. Over the Easter holiday and the week following I took time off from work to assist with the lambing of our sheep flock, but I am back at work, catching up.

I have lots of TCfeline premix ready to ship and Canada Post is committed to remaining operational. There was a slight delay in shipping orders this week as I had to moved to using online shipping tools in order to comply with requirement set by our local postal outlet which closed its front desk retail space. Using the Canada Post online shipping tools took a few days to get used to, but everything from hereon in should go even smoother and you are now going to receiving regular updates on the shipping status of your order directly from Canada Post - something I wanted to implement for some time and was finally forced to do.

We are healthy, I have lots of TCfeline premix ready to ship, Canada Post is committed to remaining operational and our local post office is open with reduced hours. In an effort to limit contact with others I am shipping orders only twice a week. This is to avoid exposure to a possible infection as much as possible so that I can remain available to you to ship your cat food premix orders. Thank you for your continuous patronage during this time of challenges. Hang in there.

Canada Post remains operational and as long as our local post office is open I will ship orders tomorrow morning, Monday March 23. In the USA, pet food is now counted among "essential businesses" and I hope this will be the case in Canada as well. With people staying at home more and socially isolated our pets are an emotional lifeline.

"In the U.S., a coalition of organizations, spearheaded by the American Feed Industry Association, has sent a letter to state governors urging them to consider animal feed businesses, including pet food companies and facilities, as "essential businesses" needing to stay open even during lockdowns. And, with some good news for pet food, the Pet Food Institute announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency released additional guidance on March 19 about essential businesses relating to the COVID-19 crisis, and pet food facilities are included."

All orders placed on or before March 18, 2020 have shipped. Canada Post is operating. I have lots of TCfeline ready to ship. HOWEVER, please note that postal outlets may be closed to the public without notice. Right now, availability of the premix hinges entirely on Canada Post receiving and delivering mail.

IF Canada Post decides to suspend receipt and delivery of mail, any orders placed that I am unable to ship will be refunded in full.

Plans are in place for creating a facebook group and blog to give cat lovers the tools to keep feeding a raw diet with alternative means, and keep up with the care for cats in times of possible supply interruptions. Now is the time to refill your cat's prescriptions with your Veterinarian for the next 2-3 months. Stock up on supplies like subcutaneous fluids for cats with kidney disease, or laxatives like Restoralax for cats with a history of constipation. Do not make sudden diet changes for cats with a history of bladder crystals. For cats at risk of bladder crystals and blockage of the urethra feed plain ground meat with water added if you run out of your regular food. If possible, keep cats indoors to prevent harm and accidents, because Veterinary clinics may not be open as usual if your cat has an emergency.

I have lots of TCfeline premix and Canada Post is open for business. We are all healthy and well here at Three Gables Farm, ready to help and serve you.

From the FAQ section of the Wold Health Organisation:

"Is it safe to receive packages from areas where COVID-19 has been reported?" Answere: " Yes. The likelihood of an infected person contaminating commercial goods is low and the risk of catching the virus that causes COVID-19 from a package that has been moved, travelled, and exposed to different conditions and temperatures is also low."

Hello fellow cat lover and customer. Thank you for checking in. Everything at Three Gables Farm is BUSINESS AS USUAL. I have plenty of TCfeline premix, and Canada Post is shipping orders.

Three Gables Farm is essentially a home-based business with only me as staff, which means that social distancing is not affecting the operation of my business and the availability of your cat's premix at all. You may, however, want to put enough meat in the freezer for your cat for 3 months (18 lbs for one cat), because of possible supply interruptions. You can safely thaw portions of meat, make a batch of cat food, and re-freeze it as cat food. If you have questions about that, email me at [email protected]

As emergency backup, also purchase some dry food and/or canned food, which you can use to stretch your raw food supply. Do not forget to stock up on your cat's medication and litter for at least 3 months.  Pet stores and Veterinary clinics may close for public safety or due to staff shortage. Now may be the time to consider changing your cat’s lifestyle to that of an indoor only cat. Should your cat have an accident or pick up an infection of some kind while roaming outdoors, your Veterinarian may not be able to assist with your emergency.

Lastly, my husband and I follow recommended sanitation and social distancing suggestions put out by official agencies. We are naturally isolated on our farm in a small rural community with only limited contact to the community through use of essential amenities. We hare not sick, and there is no risk of me having infected your order.

I will make updates as this situation is evolving.
